Sex Pistols - Friday 20th January 1978 - Sid Hospital Phone Call

Sid Vcious was telephoned by photographer Roberta Bayley, who accompanied the Sex Pistols on their US tour. She recorded this phone call after he (and Boogie) left Los Angeles on the 19th January but taken off the plane in JFK, New York and transfered to Jamaica Hospital, New York in a semi-coma state.

Johnny Rotten was interviewed in 1977 over the phone by Tony Barrell.

Michel notes "...The original programme ran for an hour, with music by Kevin Coyne, Captain Beefheart, Lee Perry, The Slits and others. The interview is only about 20 mins because I edited out most of the music while I was recording the programme from my crappy little radio back in 1977.
In a few places, I've replaced the original rough-quality mono tape recording with high-quality snippets that were used in the 'No Flares On Me' documentary.
Obviously, 2JJJ must have the pristine tape in their possession somewhere but in the meantime, mine will have to suffice. It's listenable and 99% complete. At one point, just after Kevin Coyne has been played, Johnny answers "Oh, I think it's ridiculous..." to a question that's missing. The missing question is "How do you feel about being banned?"  At another point, Barrell is talking about different approaches to using recording studios, and there are a few words missing from his sentence after he says "...laying down some good, fast --"  This break was caused by my having to turn the cassette over. The important parts of the interview, Rotten's pronouncements, are all there. I'm sure you'll find it a highly entertaining listen...
...The brief prelude in which a plummy BBC type informs listeners what punk is and who Johhny Rotten is, I can't identify the voice, comes from Part 1 of the 3-part 2JJJ (Australia) radio documentary 'No Flares On Me', broadcast in 1987..."

Malcolm McLaren conducts an interview in a dressing room prior to the gig that the Sex Pistols played at Leeds Polytechnic on the 6th December 1976. This is a longer interview than that shown in "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle".

I have no information regarding this Radio item, other than it is a Documentary on the Sex Pistols.

Dan also notes - "...It's BBC Radio Nottingham though, not Radio Trent.  As far as I know there is no recording circulating of Radio Trent, just some people list it as one and some the other so you'll see Radio Trent on someone's list and it makes you think there's an existing version... that's assuming they ever did an interview for Radio Trent.  It's mentioned in Day By Day but then the info in there isn't 100% correct...".

Sex Pistols - Saturday 3rd Septmber 1977 - BBC Radio Cleveland, England

Here is the FULL 15 min interview when The Sex Pistols played The Rock Garden, Middlesbrough on the 26th August 1977 under the name "Acne Rabble" during their SPOTS (Sex Pistols On Tour Secretly) Tour of England. DJ Larry Ottaway interviewed all four Pistols for 15 mins in the dressing room at the gig. It was edited for broadcast down to 5 mins. (Broadcast 3rd September 1977)

BBC Radio Cleveland changed to BBC Tees on 11 August 2007.
